World embryologist day | Basecare pays tribute to the heroes behind the scenes
On July 25, 1978, under the joint efforts of British obstetrics and Gynecology scientist Patrick Steptoe and embryologist Robert Edwards, the world's first test tube baby, Louise Brown, was born in Britain, causing a sensation in the world. This is known as a great pioneering step of human reproductive technology, which has created a new era of embryo research and reproductive control, and opened up a new path for the treatment of infertility. In 2010, the Nobel Prize in medicine was awarded to Robert Edwards, the father of IVF, and since then, the 25th of July became the world embryologist's day.
National lecture on PGT-A technology
Since the day when the PGT-A project was launched, Basecare has been continuously proven the value of the PGT-A technology in the field of reproduction in China. Over the years, we are creating a world in which genetic information is used to guide healthcare decisions throughout every stage of life. Now, the preimplantation genetic testing technology has gradually entered the stage of full popularization in China. In order to help more clinicians fully understand the application characteristics and limitations of this technology, so that genetics laboratories helps people have successful pregnancies by providing genetic testing for conditions that could lead to infertility, pregnancy loss or genetic illnesses in children. We are determined to popularize the knowledge of preimplantation genetic testing to help families with potential needs to benefit from this technology.
At the pledge meeting in October 2019, the sales force of Basecare determined to hold 70 PGT-A lecture tour to popularize the knowledge of preimplantation genetic testing.
Up to now, Basecare has held PGT-A seminar in many provinces of China, which has been praised by experts and clinicians unanimously. They believe that the PGT-A technology seminar of Basecare is of great significance to the reproductive centers that have not yet carried out PGT-A technology. They hope that the clinical value of the PGT-A technology can be widely recognized in the reproductive center, so that this technology can serve more infertile and genetic disease carrying families, and contribute to reducing the birth defect rate of China.
5 years of independent research and development—China’s first approved PGT-A kit
In 2015, the CFDA Standard Management Centre officially classified PGT as "Class III medical devices" for supervision. The PGT-A kit was granted special approval for innovative medical devices by the CFDA Medical Device Technology Evaluation Centre in May 2016. In 2017, Basecare involved in the formulation of the first PGT technical standards, Quality Control Technical Evaluation Guide of Preimplantation Chromosomal Aneuploidies Detection Kit, which laid a solid foundation for the clinical application of third-generation IVF technology. In 2018, we obtained the GMP workshop qualification, which laid a solid foundation for the industrialization of PGT-A. In 2019, we completed the validation of clinical trial data of PGT-A technology. In February, 21 2020, the PGT-A kit independently developed by Basecare won the CFDA approval and became the first PGT-A product in China to have obtained the Class-III Medical Devices Registration certificate (approval number 20203400181).
Five years of intensive research---China's first fully intelligent cryogenic embryo storage and management system
Embryo laboratory is crucial to the success of IVF, which is often referred as the “heart” of reproductive center. However, there are also some problems with the embryo storage tank used in the embryo laboratory such as complex operation, frequent replenishing of liquid nitrogen and difficult to monitor temperature. After 5 years intensive research, Basecare developed China’s first fully intelligent cryogenic embryo storage and management system, which not only solved the problem troubled embryologist years of convenient embryo storage, also realized the effective monitoring and early warning of embryo storage temperature. The fully intelligent embryo freezing equipment can store 50000 embryos at one time, which is 50 times the storage capacity of ordinary liquid nitrogen tanks.
