During the conference, Basecare invited HuLiang, director of the research department, and Dujuan, deputy director of genetics of Reproductive & Genetic Hospital of CITIC-XIANGYA to deliver speeches on the topics of "Pre-implantation detection and genetic counseling of embryo chromosome copy number variation" and "Research on sperm donor WES and donor fertilization matching" respectively. 

Professor Hu made a systematic introduction on “Pre-implantation detection and genetic counseling of embryo chromosome copy number variation”, he pointed out that the low fertility at advanced maternal age is mainly related to the decreased oocyte quality. With the development of PGT technology, new detection method can detect smaller variations. He also introduced the common situations, mechanism and consultation points of chromosome abnormality, fragment abnormality and chimeras of embryo chromosome, and proposed that different detection platform are needed for different indications and disease, integrated PGT platform will be the future direction.

Professor DuJuan believes that AID in an important measure for solving infertility, however conventional AID cannot avoid the birth of children with genetic disease. On average, one sperm donor will involve five families, it’s more meaningful for sperm donor to accept carrier screening. Current carrier screening is based on certain types of genetic diseases, and can screen only a small number of disease. To conduct WES among sperm donor is expected to reduce birth defects for those families receive donor sperm.
